I told the longer version of this story here, but here it is abridged:
Designing their Christmas card for 2005, one sister at Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey drew the marvelous image above, . Another wrote a lovely text:
O Eve!
My mother, my daughter, life-giving Eve,
Do not be ashamed, do not grieve.
The former things have passed away,
Our God has brought us to a New Day.
See, I am with Child,
Through whom all will be reconciled.
O Eve! My sister, my friend,
We will rejoice together
Forever
Life without end.

Neuhaus reprinted it here, and in 2007 First Things reader Frank LaRocca used it to compose a glorious choral piece. And isn't all of that just wonderful to contemplate here, in this Octave of Christmas, where all sorts of glorious happenings catch our notice?
