More on Msgr. Alan Placa, Advisor to Giuliani
Posted on November 27, 2007, 6:39 AM | Deal W. Hudson
In yesterday's story on Msgr. Alan Placa, employee and advisor to Rudy Giuliani, I reported that Placa co-owned a $550,000 penthouse apartment in New York City with the pastor of the parish where he is priest-in-residence. This is one of six residences that have been co-owned by Placa and Msgr. Brendan Riordan. See "Giuliani Advisor is Accused Pedophile Priest?"
I received the following e-mail regarding Placa:
I think it might be interesting to note that some of the real estate owned by Placa and Riordan was transferred to them from Fr. Kane. He was the founder of the House of Affirmation and the leader of the "boot camp for pedophiles." He was caught embezzling from the House, a lot with which he bought real estate. The church never brought charges. [See here and here.]
Thanks for your article. I was brought to the House as a young teenager...
Placa was a legal advisor to the House of Affirmation while Riordan was a director.  When the director of the House, Rev. Thomas A. Kane was sued by Mark Barry, who claimed he had been molested by Kane and others since he was 9, Kane started transferring his assets to other people. Placa and Riordan got a piece of real estate in Florida.  The lawsuit was settled confidentially and the House of Affirmation was closed due to a financial scandal involving Kane.
It's clear to me that anyone who wants to dig into the Kane-Placa-Riordan connection at the House of Affirmation is going to find information that will be very troubling for Rudy Giuliani.
