PA Catholic Voters Go for Clinton, Big Time! Posted on April 22, 2008, 9:21 PM | Deal W. Hudson |
Among all self-identified Catholic voters in today's PA primary, 63% voted for Hillary Clinton, 32% for Barack Obama. Among religiously-active Catholics the numbers are stronger, 71% Clinton, 28% Obama.
Another surprising number is that Catholics constituted only 17% of the vote. That number is much lower than the 29% that was expected.
Though exit polling can change overnight, Obama continues to have a serious problem with Catholic voters. The Sen. Casey endorsement did not offset the pattern that had developed throughout the earlier primaries.
